SPEAKER_02

Oh, everything's so white.

SPEAKER_03

Uh welcome back to the Words from the Nerds podcast. What a way to start. Everything's so white. Um, where we bring you all of our nerdy news discussions, uh topics, and all of our opinions and everything that you love to hear from all of us. And of course, I am joined today. I'm your host, Charlie, or as it says right now, Curly. Um, but uh joined today as always by my two lovely co-hosts, Aiden and Benjamin. Um guys, you know, I don't want to ask you how you're doing, but uh I know maybe maybe some audience members will care about whatever the fuck little weirdo shit Benjamin's got going on this upcoming weekend. So uh Ben, give a give a quick little rundown of what you what you got going on, man.

SPEAKER_04

Oh gosh, okay. Uh yeah, so something else that I do outside of watch movies and collect Legos and whatever else is I speedrun Lego Star Wars. I speedrun a couple different Lego games, but the main one being Lego Star Wars the complete saga, something I'm sure a lot of people can relate to growing up on playing on their Wii. Most Lego games now you can just play on your computer, which is really nice. But I speedrun that game and I'm a part of the community, and every year around like spring going into summertime, there is an annual tournament that we've been hosting. And so this year I was a part of helping organize that and helping out with some of the production side of things, helping with commentary and whatnot. And I'm about to go in person for the top eight tournament. We did like a whole bracket style to get to that point, and now the top eight players are going to compete in this upcoming weekend to crown the champion of the tournament. So if you have any interest, check out it is ladderleague.run is the website. Has the link to the Discord and all the previous VODs and the schedule for the upcoming matches and any anything else that you do any of the VODs have any of your runs on there? Not my runs, but my commentary. Uh, because I didn't participate. I didn't participate in the event itself, but I did commentate on like two or three of the matches that have happened in the last couple of months. So is there anywhere anywhere we could go to watch some of your runs? Some of my runs? Well, yeah, you can. It's not really a thing that you just like do because most of them like they're not commentated. It's literally just like a recording of the game with like the splits of the speedrun and showing the times and whatnot throughout the run and whatnot. But my I mean, my username on speedrun.com is uh just changed. It's it's saber, that's my gamer tag. Um I used to have some some numbers and whatnot, but uh actually, if you if you search up the numbers with the numbers, saber 1658 on YouTube, you'll find a bunch of my old Super Mario Maker stuff, which is funny. Uh that'll come up before anything else because people would post like clear videos beating my levels because I made like slightly harder levels and whatnot. So yeah, I'm very excited to go in person. There's a whole media day, we're gonna get to do some like different skits and whatnot. There's a team like blindfolded Lego building challenge that I get to be a part of, which is really exciting. Where like one person's one person's blindfolded and then their teammate isn't, and they have to like tell them, you know, oh, feel for the obstacles.

SPEAKER_03

I love that. That's my favorite game.

SPEAKER_04

Wait, they rap? Of course, okay. Uh so yeah, there's gonna be a lot of fun stuff that's gonna be happening throughout the weekend. The I mean, for anyone who cares, the Twitch account is twitch.tv slash Lego Speedruns. So there will be tournament running most of the day Friday, and then you know, a decent portion on Saturday and Sunday as well, just for the top eight bracket. So yeah, it's gonna be very fun. It's I love doing the hobby. I've done it for man, I guess just about three night three years now. So I love doing it. I mean, I grew up doing it a little bit, and I always liked gaming on the more like competitive side of things. Um, I wasn't ever like really, really good at like a ton of different games, but speedrunning is one of those things that I've put a lot of time into. It's some of the only gaming that I do nowadays, so I really enjoy it. Crazy, crazy thanks, Charlie.

SPEAKER_06

That's for letting me that's a whole letting me talk about it. That's a whole ordeal, dude. That's uh that's huge. It really is.

SPEAKER_07

I I mean it's just it's just crazy to me because you were like, oh yeah, my my stuff's gonna be packed up, and then like Charlie's like, Well, come on, what are you doing?

SPEAKER_06

And you're like, Oh yeah, just this fucking huge thing. It's like okay.

SPEAKER_04

I will uh when I'm about to like commentate a match, I'll like send the the Twitch link to our group chat. I mean the matches are like the matches are long, it's like a two and a half hour for just one race basically.

SPEAKER_03

Two runs, it's just like in a podcast episode. You're gonna be yapping. You're gonna be yapping.

SPEAKER_04

It is, it is, but you know, it's me and another person. You you commentate with the same person throughout the whole tournament. So I've commentated with this guy plenty of times. Him and I are good friends, and we've played, we've done like co-op runs together as well.

SPEAKER_05

So it's gonna be a fun time.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's just uh one of the many ways that I am trying to incorporate gaming more into this podcast. So that's why you said it.

SPEAKER_07

We've we need we need an episode where it's like uh just you like uh take me out and throw Brandon in, and it's just all gaming, like all aspects. We have Ben's side of it, Charlie's or last I checked.

SPEAKER_02

Aren't you supposed to be playing Star Fox, my boy? Aren't you supposed to be playing Star Fox?

SPEAKER_01

That's true. Isn't the Star Fox dropped, bro? Yeah, it came out, it dropped, man. It dropped it actually.

SPEAKER_06

Oh wow, yeah. I've been so oh well, you know, forgive me. Been going through some day. All right, man, holy forgive me, buddy.

SPEAKER_04

Hey, I saw that, Charlie. You turned your back just so we could see your Spider-Man brand new day shirt. I see that.

SPEAKER_06

This boy's flexing, bro. I saw when he no, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

If anything, you guys saw it when I left earlier.

SPEAKER_04

I see that. I I wasn't really paying attention, but there it was very clearly like oh no.

SPEAKER_06

I mean, yeah, uh for the squad, bro.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, now lift it up and and pull your pants down a little bit.

SPEAKER_03

I want to see that is this a spirit jersey. How much was that? 290 bucks. Oh my gosh. Uh, but it's I the the way I can I the way I justified it because I've been saving up for this Disney World trip and like it came out of that money. So, like, this is just like if I saw this in the park, I'd buy it. So I I considered it something like that.

SPEAKER_07

So that's fair. That's fair. Uh I will get I will get back on my uh uh Star Fox and and Nintendo game. It's I've also just been super busy with work, it's just been it's been absolutely insane. I feel like I but that's really good for you, right? In the day, yeah, it's great. Yeah, I mean, um when stuff's busy, that means bread's coming in. Means that coming in, super busy with everything. So it's been yes, it's been good, but um, it's also been a lot, and so I've forgotten to take the trash out two weeks in a row. So that's just uh that tells you how bad uh my brain has been. But yes, I do want to get back on and I'm excited for I'm excited to play Star Fox for sure.

SPEAKER_03

Damn son. Yeah. Uh so you hear here first, folks. Eventually we'll start getting some gaming stuff on here, you know. Charlie, not too uh not too much. For Papa Curly to come in here.

SPEAKER_04

Why are you uh why are you listening to music while talking to us?

SPEAKER_06

That's not my Discord.

SPEAKER_03

I know my Discord, my Discord is connected to Cassidy's uh Spotify, and I keep it I kept I we used to share a Spotify, but I've kept it like that on purpose because I just like seeing what she's listening to. I don't know. I guess I'm a stalker like that, but uh I don't even know who who's Cassie. I don't even know who that is. Um but sometimes she'll be clean that she's listening to 50 cents. Like, what the fuck is she doing? Um but anyway, a little bit of housekeeping uh for you guys. Uh if you've never tuned into an episode of our podcast, each and every week we will read aloud every single comment from the previous week, no matter what it says. Uh, you can literally say anything. Um, but this week, unfortunately, I don't know if Mimish got around to it. Uh, if and if he did, and if you didn't, Mimish, I don't want you to if you did get around to watching it and you didn't comment, I don't mean to feel like you had to, because you you do it all the time. We appreciate it, brother. But uh, if you did get around to this episode and you didn't comment, that's totally fine. Um, but there are no comments this week, so nothing to read aloud. But if you want uh one of us, actually one of these two gentlemen, I will be gone. Uh if you want one of these two gentlemen to read it aloud next time, comment something down below.

SPEAKER_07

Um, just just because I feel like Memish is gonna bring it up uh next, if he watches this episode in comments, just because I feel like it's a possibility he'll bring it up. Yes, the US men's team lost. And last episode I was sitting here saying, USA, USA. Um, Memish, I don't know who you're rooting for. Um England. I I feel like it'll be England, yeah, which is I feel like is unfair because England looks really freaking good. I mean, they absolutely picked Mexico apart. I will be rooting for two teams. Um I will be rooting for Morocco. Go Morocco go, and I will be rooting for Norway. So we'll see if maybe my curse, maybe it was something that I did. If Morocco and Norway lose, and next episode we're back here, and and um, you know, we're absolutely cooked. Uh, we'll actually know who the winner is by the next time we're in here, I think. Um, you know, we'll we'll we'll see what happens. But yes, Mimish, USA lost, and they actually got embarrassed big time. It was horrible. It was worse. They're saying it was the worst.

SPEAKER_03

Um called him out.

SPEAKER_07

Uh, so yeah, it was it was very bad. But Morocco, Norway, here we go. I'm on your side.

SPEAKER_03

So yeah. Um, little little stuff, I guess uh I'm not gonna touch on too too heavily, too deeply, but as it kind of revolves around the World Cup to some degree, I I really just wonder how much it truly is affecting like potential numbers I could have for Toy Story, um and and and Brandon for minions, etc. etc. Um all of that to say though, without going too into the weeds with it, just to transition, since Aiden just mentioned the World Cup will be uh over or in the very tail end uh by the time Odyssey drops. A little bit of conversation that we wanted to have about um the Odyssey. Something I wanted to say specifically is that I think that Aiden is the only one of us, because I have the Odyssey on our Rotten Tomatoes draft, so I need it to score well review-wise, both audience and critic score. Uh, and Aiden Aiden has it on his box office draft, so he needs it to make a lot of money, of course. I think Aiden is the only one that uh one of us that is that is potentially going to see any positive side of this. I think maybe for me the critic score will be high, which the critic score I was never exactly worried about. I don't like I I don't think critics have ever been too particularly harsh to any Christopher Nolan movie, I could be wrong. But the this audience score.

SPEAKER_04

Really?

SPEAKER_03

Oh wow, it does didn't know that.

SPEAKER_04

It also was not a like universally loved, viewed as a masterpiece for like multiple years after it came out.

SPEAKER_03

Dang, okay. I don't I I can't remember when I watched it, how how long after it came out when I watched it. I didn't watch it when it when it came out, that's for sure. Um but yeah, I think that these audience scores, man, they're gonna I am worried. No, I'm I'm not that worried, actually. I was gonna say that I'm worried that it could be a last of a season two level kind of thing. No um but I don't think it'll be that level. I will say though, I would not be shocked if it sits somewhere in the 60s. Oh I would not be shocked. Audience score sitting somewhere in the 60s. I would not be shocked. I think I would be shocked personally. The scuttle butt I'm seeing. I don't know, dude. Maybe I'm just falling into the into the rabbit.

SPEAKER_04

It's the internet bubble. I think it that's part of because like truthfully, it getting review bombed is one thing. I think the box office will be like the bigger indicator of how much all of this actually mattered.

unknown

True.

SPEAKER_04

And I I I truthfully, I I I don't know. I'm very curious to see. It became the newest trailer became the most disliked trailer ever, topping Disney's Snow White trailer from a couple years ago, uh, their Snow White remake. So obviously that says like a little bit of something, but also we know that this movie is gonna make a crap ton of money, and that like all of the people who are complaining on YouTube, complaining on Twitter, like it's not a real indicator of real life and what's actually gonna happen, and you know, we'll have to see what what the turnout actually ends up being, and I think it's gonna have incredibly good positive word of mouth. I do think there's gonna be some review bombing. Um, but yeah, I'll I'll let Aiden share his thoughts and then I have some more stuff to say about kind of the the box office side of things.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I I don't know. I I have seen as we have followed box office. This is like the first time that we've truly at least this deeply followed it on this podcast. And something that I've noticed this year, I was a big uh voice that Taylor Swift and her original song and her maybe voicing the character was gonna have a big impact on Toy Story, and it didn't, and it didn't, and I wonder if a lot of that was because I'm just looking a very deep into the bubble that we are in on the internet, and same thing with YouTube numbers, because you think about everybody that goes and watches um any movie that's out right now in IMAX or maybe even some of the uh the ones that people will just go watch in digital. The Odyssey trailer is there and it is very alive and it's very electric. And I wonder if you just pull someone random on the street and ask them about the Odyssey, somebody that doesn't just get cons just consume this all the time.

SPEAKER_04

Can I give Twitter can I actually add to that real quick? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So uh recently I was hanging out with a cousin of mine, and he's not he's not a huge movie guy. He calls me sometimes and is like, hey, I know you're a big movie guy. Can you like tell me if this is a good one? I'm gonna watch it with my friends or whatever. He's not a big movie guy and he doesn't go to a ton of movies. And he also doesn't like it's not like it's something that's brought up brought up frequently when I see him. It's kind of just you know, it's randomly brought up. But two times recently, once about a week ago, and then about like three weeks ago, separate occasions, he said, bro, you know what movie I'm so excited for? The Odyssey. I was just like, Oh, really? Why? And he's like, bro, it just looks epic. Like the trailers look great, it looks like a cool story, it looks awesome. Yeah, and he's just he's not a big movie guy, but like just seeing the trailer, he's in. He he wants to go see it, he's going to go see it, and he's excited for it.

SPEAKER_07

And I feel like that's a lot of what's going on outside of what we're seeing and what we're looking at, which is why I I don't think that this movie is gonna make any less than 650 million. I do not there's not, I would put money on it that this movie will not make anything lower than 650 million. Anything above that, I'm not confident enough to put money on, but I just I'm really curious, and I've been curious about what it what it'll shape out given the dislikes, given the controversy, given everyone acting the way that they're acting around this movie. Um, and even us to a certain extent, and I mean more so me and Charlie, because like the Travis Scott stuff, whenever that came out, and I was like, bro, what are we doing? Um, but I I just I wonder how much that truly affects it. I don't think I think we're gonna start to see this the the seesaw uh tip a lot towards the positive direction, especially as word of mouth comes out. When the movie comes out and everyone sees just how monumental it is, I feel like it will be one of those like Dune part two events just like on crack because it's Nolan and because the cast is so star-studded, where everyone's gonna be like, you need to go watch the Odyssey, you need to go see it on the biggest screen. Like, I don't even go to movies, and I I feel like I need to go to this one so I don't miss out on it. I feel like that's what we're gonna start to see, and I feel like because of that, that number does not look any less. I know I just said I wouldn't be confident, but the number doesn't look any less so around 700 mil for me personally. So that's my take on it, box office-wise, Rotten Tomatoes-wise. I really don't know. There's a lot more free will in a way, there's a lot more people actually being able to voice um whatever it is in terms of controversy, however, they feel about the movie, they can voice it there. Whereas box office, it's like, all right, well, you're either gonna buy the ticket and see it or not. Uh so Rotten Tomatoes, I can't really speak on. I would be shocked with a 60. But anyways, for box office at least, that's kind of where I'm I've been.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Uh uh box office, I have a lot a lot more faith in it um than I than I do, uh Rotten Tomatoes. Uh and like as as you guys have said, like hopefully that Seesaw does start leaning more towards the positive direction, but uh like it is just it's insane to me the what the internet bubble, as Ben mentioned, has has chosen to latch onto with this movie uh and and and and give it as much gas as it uh as it has, because they really seem like nothing complaints to me, but at the same time and not to make excuses for these people, because there are some people that are are are are just genuinely like being for lack of a better term, like like bigots about it and being just like assholes about it. But um I I liken it to like us. So like if they were to do something so uh out of the ordinary with uh like some comic characters that we have um some some knowledge of and some some some love for. And before we see the movie, we're seeing all of these things that are changed and we don't like it, and and and therefore we we kind of are vocal about it. I guess I can see it from that lens. But I I truly I just don't know that there's that many of these people are humongous fans of the Odyssey, uh, that story, and and and just have uh like it. I guess they could be history buffs and maybe that's why they care about it, but I don't know, man. I don't want to get too into the weeds with it, but it just it is a little crazy to me. A little crazy, but I guess we'll see.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Um I I think the critic scores are gonna be very high. Like, I I think it's going to be mid to high 90s. Uh, and just for some context, we are recording like literally the day that there are early reactions because there was a London premiere for the movie, and so they allowed a lot of the critics who were there to just give their initial thoughts on the movie as a social media review. And so I saw quite a bit of those just because you know I'm curious, and there was plenty of accounts that were posting, like, you know, here's a bunch of the Odyssey reactions, and so I was I was seeing those and starting to get very excited. The fact that it's next week is like blowing my mind. Uh, and just the fact, you know, for me and for Aiden, it's gonna be our first time going to see something in 70 millimeter. Sorry, Charlie, just had to say it. Uh, so I'm I'm getting very, very excited from that perspective. So we've seen the reaction from critics so far. There's only going to be more in the next week or so. I anticipate that it will be a very, very high critic score. I think 60 is maybe harsh, but I might be underestimating the power of the internet bubble. Like, I, you know, you can go both sides. You can say that it doesn't exist, but it's like clearly it exists because it's the most disliked trailer on YouTube. Sure. And so that has some merit to it. And then you look at like, I mean, The Last of Us is an example of that. Uh, I don't know how low like Snow White's score ended up being, but um you can look at stuff like that and just kind of try to guess, but truthfully, I I don't really know where it's gonna land. I would just be surprised that there's not at least like I would be surprised if it's not a good majority of people that give it a positive score, even with those who review bomb it. And by the way, Snow White, I just looked at it from the critics, from the critics 39, from the audience 69. So, like that's okay, kind of weird, but yeah, um oh, I just quoted Rachel Zegler when she was like weird, weird. Anyways, I know that clip like this guy made a video about check out his YouTube channel. Um my dead YouTube channel. Uh, one last thing, sorry. The as for box office, so I think there's a lot of things to factor in. Like, I remember Project Hail Mary having a ton of hype, and that movie ended up making like 650 million, and this is an R-rated movie, so that's gonna take some people out, but it's also Christopher Nolan, so it's gonna bring some people in. It's right before Spider-Man, which I do think is gonna have a big impact on its legs. I think there's a chance that this doesn't break even, but I think it will. I think there's a chance it doesn't, but I I really do think it will. It having exclusive IMAX screens for like I don't even know how long, might be multiple months at this point, uh, since Spider-Man isn't getting any, it might have those locked down for a long time, and that boosted Project Hail Mary a lot. So uh I really think it's dependent upon legs. I could see it, I I don't see it hitting a billion dollars. I mean, if Michael is struggling to just barely cross that finish line, it's just not happening for the Odyssey, which is a surprise to me, but that's a different conversation. Um so I I think the guess of around 700 mil is pretty good, just depending on upon legs. So I I think it'll make money, but I think we're right around there. Like just legs could make it not, or it it just barely will, but I don't see it like blowing past 800 million.

SPEAKER_03

So I I have a I have a couple of things. So first, uh I and I haven't checked this statistic myself, so I don't I don't know, but I saw something that said like No Way Homes box box office, only a hundred million of it was because of IMAX showings and and and whatnot. And granted that's that's a little different just because like as we've talked about previously, China is a huge, the biggest um IMAX market in the world, and it didn't it didn't release there because of the Statue of Liberty thing. So like now I don't I I I I I bel I believe the Odyssey is having a a China release. I don't see why it it it it wouldn't. Um so how much does that factor in? How much does that add to it, etc. etc.? Um but and this is kind of off topic, but uh just uh out of curiosity, did Aiden did Project Hill Mary did that profit you as much as you like hoped it would or imagined it would? Yeah, yeah, okay.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I mean what 175 to 250 was kind of like my I almost for a second there was worried that it wasn't even gonna break even, but again, that was like beginning of the year. I didn't really know how all of this was gonna play out, but uh for it was slowing down a lot faster than I would have liked it to start slowing down. Um, but yeah, finishing with 683 on a 500 mil break even. I was like, hey, look, I'm I'm completely happy with that. That's why with with I'm kind of treating the Odyssey the same way. Like I got the Odyssey second pick of the summer season, summer, yeah. And I'm getting all right, I got Project Hill Mary with the second pick of the winter season, so it's like that's kind of how I'm playing it. If the Odyssey can get me one to 150, I'll be more than happy with that because Devil Wears Prada already got me my Michael numbers, yeah. You know, like that's how I'm kind of trying to look at this. Um, but to answer to make a long story short, yes, I I was happy with what what I got from I thought it was gonna make more, to be honest.

SPEAKER_03

Uh, we guys I thought it was you guys both had that sentiment when we when we when when we drafted it. I do remember that.

SPEAKER_04

It was mostly like it, I just felt like there was so much hype built around the movie. The early reactions were incredible, and so many people who you know don't go to movies all the time really wanted to go see it. They wanted to go see a Ryan Gosling movie that has some pull. And like I don't know, I said it was gonna clear like 750 mil, I think is what I said. So I thought it would make a little bit more than it did.

SPEAKER_03

You well, you bring up you mentioned the hype, and that's that's that's the other thing I wanted to bring up. Because I just today while I was at work, I just I tossed a headphone in and I I went back to our summer draft and I started listening to it.

SPEAKER_06

And uh it's fun, huh? It's fun.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I it's funny because in that one, Aiden mentions multiple times that like he's following the hype this time, uh, because like he didn't do it with his Rotten Tomatoes draft and and he regretted it. And uh he he didn't do it, I think, with this, sorry, he didn't do it with last year's rotten tomato draft, and I think he said he didn't do it with this one either. But now with the box office draft, he's specifically following the hype, and it's working for him. It's it's working for him so far. So that but I bring it up to say, like, does that continue with the Odyssey? Because like there is still hype, but there's also, I mean, anti-hype, I don't know. There's also some hate.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I and I thought about everything, and sometimes that's my issue, is that I'm thinking too much about everything. So, like I I when the Odyssey fell to me, I was super hype with it because I had already had my mind on this is one of the first four picks, this has to be one of the first four picks. Um, immediately after I picked it, I like I'm sitting there and I'm like, gosh, did I make the right decision? So I'm doing all the thinking afterwards because I'm like in the moment, I just need to shut my brain off and just go for it. Yeah, it's Odyssey. Of course, it'll make the money, of course it'll bang, boom. And I I still think like high end, and I think I said this uh last week's episode, high end, I think it will make 800. Um, but I think 700 has become the middle ground and the low has become, you know, breaking even just barely. Um so I I don't know. I I feel like I feel like part of me in that moment had to just trust the hype, had to blindly go for it because you know I I didn't for the Rotten Tomatoes. I tried to do the drama and I I didn't do one piece, I didn't play it safe, and like this time it's like you gotta play it safe, just shoot for the Odyssey.

SPEAKER_03

Well, that's what I'm saying. I think this whole it's it's been working out for you, and I think it's continue is gonna continue to work out for you.

SPEAKER_04

So um well, Charlie, you ripped it one one pick for the Rotten Tomatoes draft. I know some of that was also to take it away.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. That was yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I and I I I I especially over Invincible.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I and I I pretty much I don't know if I guess I I immediately regretted that decision, but I I I I do regret that decision, uh especially now looking at what I'm faced with. Even though Invincible did score not as high as uh this season as it did last season, which I did predict that, and that also went into why I I didn't pick it this time. Um but honestly, uh like right now, if we were to pick it again, I would go with Invincible because I for some reason I'm feeling like season five is gonna be crazy good, but I don't know. Uh oh Aiden now Aiden's feeling the opposite.

SPEAKER_07

Aiden's that's well, not only that, um, but no, I don't and again, see maybe it's just the Ron Tomatoes draft that I get like this, but I I just don't trust Invincible. If I had the one one next year, like I'm not taking it.

SPEAKER_03

That's true. Next year's a whole different beast, though. That's another great point, too.

SPEAKER_07

Well, here let me let me say this I have a different one one next year if I have the first pick. It's it's across the Spider-Verse a thousand or beyond the Spider-Verse a hundred thousand percent. It has to be. Um, I think even this year, and I said this, I think even this year, if if season five of Invincible was coming out with the slate we have this year, I don't, I'm not doing it.

SPEAKER_03

It's not your one-one.

SPEAKER_07

I just I don't trust it. And again, maybe maybe some of that is me. That's that's I I don't even think I would have picked it this year if I had the one of one.

SPEAKER_03

So then Odyssey was your one-one, or what's your one-one this year?

SPEAKER_07

I I because you you went third. I think it was Odyssey. Because I said in the draft, I said in the draft that I would I was like, yep, I mean, that's the pick. That's the one-one is Odyssey.

SPEAKER_03

And then the trailer came out, and I was like, dude, you went over.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Dune, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Really? Odyssey over Dune for your one-one.

SPEAKER_07

I would have went Odyssey. Now, if I had the second pick, I probably go Dune.

SPEAKER_03

Sure.

unknown

Sure.

SPEAKER_03

I we don't have to get too into the week with it with it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, but I mean, yeah, I just wanted to bring up the discussion, and uh, it seems like I think we've talked about it every week now for the past like three weeks. Uh, some shade of this uh Odyssey situation that we're heading into. So uh it'll be interesting to see.

SPEAKER_04

And it's all I mean when the movie comes out, like that all goes away immediately. Yeah, yeah. We're gonna love I'm we're all going to love the movie. There's no doubt. We're gonna glaze it to no end. Yeah, yeah. I already glazed Christopher Nolan, he's probably my favorite director of all time. It like there's just you know, that uh that's just kind of a current thing, and it's it's it's gonna pass, and at some point, you know, it it just kind of naturally goes away, and then you realize that people really didn't actually care as much as they claim that they did. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Um, but speaking of loving directors and whatnot, uh Aiden asked us a question before uh before we hopped in here today. And uh I guess I'm just gonna read it verbatim. Actually, I don't have my phone. I just realized I don't have my phone in here.

SPEAKER_01

Look at me.

SPEAKER_04

I don't need to get listening to Megan the Stallion.

SPEAKER_03

Look at me, bro. I don't I don't need all this fancy tech, bro. I don't need all this fancy tech in my life. Look, bro, y'all are addicted to your phones. I'm meetup.

SPEAKER_04

Do you need one of us to read it for you?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yes, please.

SPEAKER_04

I got you. Oh, nice, there you go. All right, I'm just gonna read it verbatim. You get free reign and full creative to pick any director to make any superhero movie of your choosing, and you can choose to elaborate on the premise of the movie and things like that, if you please, and why you choose the combo.

SPEAKER_06

You know what we gotta do. We we gotta shake some of these jitters out, baby.

SPEAKER_03

If we're spinning this book for two, your name, your name's not on the list, though, bro. Your name's not on the list.

SPEAKER_07

We gotta shake some of these jitters out. Here's my here's my reason why. I was listening to our last episode.

SPEAKER_03

I'm just gonna say that this is crazy.

SPEAKER_07

I was listening to our last episode, and Charlie said, no, that's fine. Uh, we spun it, it it landed on Ben, and then it landed on me. And he was like, That's fine, because that just means next time we spin it, it'll land on me, and that'll be for Dune. You're not getting away that easy, pal. So we're we're gonna be using this as as much as we can. Oh shit. We will go 10 seconds. All right, to see who goes numero Uno.

SPEAKER_06

Oh, oh, it's gonna be Mr. Man. I was about to say Charlie's so well.

SPEAKER_07

Clearly, what I said was not true, then well, Brandon's name isn't in here, so true, true, true, true.

SPEAKER_04

This could have been this could have been my Dune pick, you know. This could have been my winter, this could have saved my box office.

SPEAKER_06

It could have been, it won't. I'm not letting y'all get away. I'm not listening. I'm not, I'm not feeling it.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, you already gave up Dune, bro. You already gave it up, you gave it up today, buddy. Yeah, actually it's gone for you.

SPEAKER_04

You don't, yes, you get first pick, you can't pick Dune. Yeah, bro. You're right, you're right.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and if you do, that just shows you're scared, bro. You were actually scared the whole time. If you do pick it, you're you were just scared, bro. You were scared, all right, guys.

SPEAKER_07

All right, guys, let's shake on it.

unknown

There you go.

SPEAKER_07

Um, Mr.

SPEAKER_03

Ben, you are what I want you to do, yeah. I want you to just rattle all three off. We're not gonna go one, one, one, one. Rattle all three off and and and give me give me give me your three being what director, superhero movie, and then what premise?

SPEAKER_04

Wait, did we say I thought I thought you said three directors?

SPEAKER_03

Did you say three directors? Oh no, no, no. I misinterpreted the question.

SPEAKER_04

You like you pick each thing, so you probably pick which superhero, which director, what's the premise of the movie? Okay, okay, okay.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. Just yeah, just rattle it all off then. Never mind. I rattle it all off.

SPEAKER_04

Um all right, for director, give me you guys are gonna hate me. Give me Joseph Kaczynski, director of F1, Top Gun Maverick, and Tron Legacy. Give me Joseph Kaczynski. He can do sci-fi, he can do action. That's gonna be sick. What do we have to have in this? Well, okay. I didn't we didn't pick writer, we didn't pick writer, okay? I can say premise, and I can say it's got a phenomenal script, so shut up. It's got great characters. I purely went for like a technical filmmaking perspective with that. As for which superhero, oh my gosh. Well, I feel like if you're if you're going for a guy like him, flying is a good option, just like based on you know, based on Top Gun Maverick and even even F1, you know, you got the similar kind of experience. So oh man. I'm really struggling here. I don't want to go too boring with my with my superhero for my pick. Bro, there's such a good pick here, actually. Can you really because I'm I'm rattling?

SPEAKER_07

I have like I have like one thought that I don't think it'd be good at all. The flash, bro.

SPEAKER_03

He can make he can make flash sequences look so fucking good, man.

SPEAKER_07

Oh, that's really good. That's sexy. That is so sexy.

SPEAKER_04

I mean, I I just I I I just don't know. Actually, actually, maybe this is not allowed, but ah, dude, okay, I'm coming up with the colour. Even like a green lantern or something like that. Green lantern, actually, that's a pretty good idea. But uh Aiden, if you'll allow it, because this was your your question, your premise. I was thinking because I was I was thinking of like either superheroes that fly or things that fly in the superhero universe, and it got me thinking of like OG Avengers with like quin jets and stuff like that. Um, so could I not pick a specific superhero but pick like a shield-esque type thing?

SPEAKER_07

Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, it doesn't have to be just a superhero, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, thing, yeah. Um and if if that was the premise, then I mean maybe it would be maybe this would actually be a really cool idea for a movie, but imagine it's like from the perspective of the shield agents who end up like assisting the Avengers like on the helicarier and through their missions and whatever, and so you get to see like all the spider jet pilots.

SPEAKER_07

I'm actually you're actually cooking, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

It allows like my thought other characters to come in, but like the main focus is like you're viewing it from the perspective of like the agency itself.

SPEAKER_07

Because like my thought, as soon as you said Joseph Kacinski, I was like, I wish we were doing like Star Wars because like a pod racing movie or like something surrounding pod racing. So as soon as you say like shield, like them flying and helping and aiding the event. My mind immediately goes like pod racing shield members, like that. Yeah, yeah, you're cooking, dude.

SPEAKER_04

Him him with the Star Wars movie after yeah, him doing Tron Legacy. Oh my gosh, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Well, because you said that there they were like kind of floating around uh uh alien, a UFO movie, right? As his next one that they had.

SPEAKER_04

I was listening to it was between it was between that and then a sequel to Top Gun. Yes, which I think both might be happening, but uh originally for premise, I was gonna try and pick a hero that could like have a really cool like horror type story, because to me, like that's something that I've I've thought would be cool from like a from a Star Wars movie, a really out there Star Wars movie, or even a series, like uh from the perspective of like a stormtrooper or something like that. There's books that have been written about that kind of premise. So I tried to think outside the box in that area, but as soon as I went Joseph Kaczynski, I just you know I I was drawn to base it more around his strengths and skill set.

SPEAKER_07

Did we all start with a director and then work from there, or did we think superhero first and then branch off? I went director first because I went director first.

SPEAKER_04

I just I ripped it, you know. I went superhero.

SPEAKER_07

I went I went director first and then I I branched off of that. Interesting, Charlie.

SPEAKER_04

Okay, and I I'll just I'll say one more thing because like some people think, oh, I'm just gonna pick like my favorite director to do a superhero movie. I don't think that's a good ex idea. I think there's so many superheroes that like Christopher Nolan could not direct certain superheroes really well. And I was thinking about that recently with like him doing a Star Wars movie. I don't want Christopher Nolan to touch Star Wars because he is too much of like the production practical, like, I need somebody who's going to embrace the sci-fi of that world, and it's not him, and that's okay. So it's not as simple as just like, oh, Christopher Nolan's my favorite director, let me pick him to direct my favorite superhero. Like, I I don't know that he would do super well directing a Spider-Man movie. I just don't think it would happen. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

Okay. Well, I went with my director first and I worked backwards from there, like I said. This one I'm gonna give uh I'm gonna try to give kind of a redemption to somebody that already had a project in the MCU. Um it will be a singular superhero, and I want it to tie into something bigger that is kind of separate from the MCU timeline that can kind of converge later. And this is giving Moon Knight a second chance.

SPEAKER_03

This time I just want to pause handled. I I'm glad you said a second chance. Glad you said that, glad you acknowledged that.

SPEAKER_07

So well, because I feel like this one wasn't good. This would no, I just think this would be better. All right, let's pump the brace. Because I think having Moon Knight in a I was trying to think, like, do we go movie TV show? I think I think a I think a TV show would be good to branch and set up a Midnight Suns. And I think the second movie, or like once you branch them into like this maybe season two or whatnot, we kind of do a Daredevil Punisher-esque team up with him and Blade, but the director at the helm of all of this is Destin Daniel Cretin. And I I I I started first with my director because you know I'm I'm thinking obviously I'm floating Spider-Man around, I'm floating Toby McGuire or um Andrew Garfield Spider-Man. Like maybe there's something there we can cook up with. Maybe a Destin Daniel Creton, Andrew Garfield Tasm 2. Maybe we see how that so I'm messing with all of these ideas, and I just kept thinking about idiot. Oh, sorry, sorry. No, I want to circle back to that.

SPEAKER_04

I kept thinking about I went first. I had to rat it off.

SPEAKER_07

I wanted to uh I kept thinking about Destin Daniel Cretton and what he's so good at. And I kept thinking about Wonder Man and I kept thinking about these trailers that we're seeing. Um, but more specifically, Wonderman and and kind of breaking down the psyche and and breaking down the character of who we're dealing with. And I feel like we're doing the same thing with Spider-Man, and I feel like that's so important. So I'm like, what is a character that I feel like we could just like Wolverine? I think a Wolverine Destin Daniel Creton project would be phenomenal. I feel like that's a good character to kind of just like break down to his core. Um, but I I feel like giving Moon Knight another shot at that, especially with the practical um fight scenes and all of the stunt work and what we're seeing come out of Spider-Man, seeing that coming out of Moon Knight, and you know uh alley ooping that into a midnight sun. So, you know, have this after eternals, um, around the same time as multiverse and madness, you know, kind of play with all of those branching into their separate part, the the magic side of the MCU. And I would also like to see Destin Daniel Cretin mess around with Blade too. How does he direct Blade? How does he choreograph Blade? And how does he do that with Mood Knight? Uh, so I think there's a lot of cool things. What they what he did with Wonder Man and breaking down Wonder Man's psyche, doing the same thing with Moon Knight and his multiple personalities, and kind of breaking down why that is eating him up and how that's torturing him, and how he ultimately comes out of that because Destin Daniel Crenton loves his, you know, just oh, breath of fresh air. I feel like we're teeing that up with Spider-Man. I want to see a little bit of that and also combine that with some sick stunts and some sick fight scenes. Um, I think Moon Knight was already really good in those areas, but I feel like oh, it could have been way better, and I think Destin Daniel Cretin could make that way better. So, Ben, I want to know what your revelation was.

SPEAKER_04

I just I thought of I thought of some good combos, like Destin Daniel Cretin doing a Daredevil movie. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like Punisher paired up with like Chad Stahalski who did the John Wick movies, something like that. Just random, like yeah, little little pockets of combos. It wasn't anything crazy, it was just kind of like when you mentioned you mentioned Punisher and Daredevil, and I was like, oh gosh, wait, that's a that's such a good superhero.

SPEAKER_07

So well, and I feel like you uh uh it's it's interesting, it depends like what you shoot for. Like I like I said, I I love Destin Daniel Creton, and I love what he's doing with what we're seeing out of these trailers, and everything with Wonder Man was amazing. And I'm like, what character, what other character would that work great with? And I just got to think I was like Moon Knight, man. Moon Knight would be fantastic. Um, I thought about maybe Magneto, but I I I feel like which I think we could get away with because Shang-Chi was we were a little bit fantastical there. Uh, so it doesn't have to be grounded to be Destin Daniel Cretons, but like a Magneto project directed by him, I think could freaking good, dude. I think uh the writing on that could go absolutely insane. But a Moon Knight project directed by Destin Daniel Creton was by far and away my number one pick.

SPEAKER_03

Nice, nice, nice, nice. I agree because I golly, do I want Moon Knight to have another shot at uh at being good? Um but for me, Peirce, for me, purse, and I'm gonna ask this because I don't want to cheat, you know. Um did we say it has to be a movie? I I know you touched on it being a series, right? No, I mean fly fly off the cuff, yeah. Okay, just give me what you got. Also gonna cheat in another way. But we'll get to that in a second. Alright, dude. Go for it. We'll get to that in a second. Um, so maybe this comes hot off the heels of watching X-Men 97, which we will be talking about here in a little bit, uh, minus Benjamin.

unknown

Fucking bitch.

SPEAKER_03

Uh but I would love, and this is also not great because we're we're getting one, like one's on the docket with uh Jake Shreer. But an X-Men project, ideally like a TV show because this is where this person shines, and this is why I say I'm cheating here. Um, Tony Gilroy, man. I need Tony Gilroy to run some shit up on X-Men, bro. Oh my gosh. That would fucking cook so fucking.

SPEAKER_07

Now, what are what are we focusing on the most? Are we focusing on uh Magneto or Wolverine or I would want a Scott focus?

SPEAKER_03

Scott uh is my favorite, favorite X-Men. I I love Cyclops. Cyclops is my absolute favorite. I would love for him to be the focus of this and just showing like he's been through so fucking much, man. And just like watching him unravel with with everything that happens to Gene, um, and like seeing like the affection that that Logan has for Gene and like how that like uh tears into like their rivalry and whatnot. I don't know, bro. I just I could see him because like I agree he has to have like a very focused character, but he's also great at handling so many other characters around said main character that I just think that that he he would be perfect for something like that. Um in a movie setting, I don't know. Uh I'd love to see if he could pull that off, but I think he really needs the time to write stuff breathe. Sure, sure. But like, do I think rogue like do I think rogue one is on the same level of Andor? No, definitely not. And so I think that's just because Andor got the ch the the the opportunity to to breathe for a while, though. So I mean it sounds dumb also just because like there's an X-Men show happening right now, granted it's animated, and this would be live action. But dude, that would just scratch every bone in my body to to to be handled so correctly and so well like that. Um but of course I'm still excited for the Jake Trier one as well. Um nonetheless. But if I and if I had to choose somebody else, uh it would actually be a not somebody else, but a different a different hero or different superhero. It would be someone from DC. I'd I'd uh I'm a big proponent for an actual Green Lantern film. Maybe this show is good. Hopefully, I need flash. I think Flash needs another shot. That's part of the reason that that flash came to mind when you were talking about yours, Ben. I think Flash needs an actual proper shot because that was just abysmal.

SPEAKER_04

Um then one probably why it didn't come to mind is because like I don't have like a great piece of media to pull flash from in my true that's fair.

SPEAKER_03

Like the only one that I can think of is the Flashpoint animated movie, and even then that's not like super great, it's just like it's enjoyable. But yeah, great question, Aiden. Great question, even though it was like you know, kind of just fucking right.

SPEAKER_05

That's all you need to say. That's all you need to say. Oh, damn, I didn't meet him on time.

SPEAKER_07

Um, yeah, I don't know. The thought just popped in my head, and so I wanted to see what y'all could cook up. True, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Next time keep the thought in your head.

SPEAKER_07

Uh let's go on to be nice to Aiden. Next time put the fries in the bag. Yeah, bro. Yo, hey, yo, hey, hey, Aiden, hey, we got curly fries down there. Put the curly fries in the bag, bro.

SPEAKER_03

Um but now we are gonna transition to one that I've been itching, quite frankly. Itching to talk about. Um, and that is the bear season five, the final season of this show. Uh let's give our first reactions, I guess. Uh, the eight episode season in five, four, three, two, one. I probably didn't need to go down to five. I probably didn't need to go. I didn't think up.

SPEAKER_00

Fucking another great season. Another great fucking season.

SPEAKER_03

And like it again, in in the year of seasons uh uh of shows not ending well, man. Tell like can't believe we come to this one and we're just we're just cooking, you know. Uh literally, we're cooking. Uh but this I think in almost every way for me, and this is why I give it a a two thumbs up, and I won't, I I don't want to jump. I mean, actually, I mean it's been out for a week, and people who are watching this are gonna care. So, yeah, let's just let's just jump right in. The only point of contention I have is with Carmi's story, but I did see that I think it I think the they left it up for interpretation, which I like I guess that's fine. But for me, I just find it so hard to believe that Carmi does not love this shit.

SPEAKER_07

Uh that's uh I don't I don't think this is I don't think this is left up uh to interpretation. I I think a hundred percent this man is staying like oh my god, he loves it.

SPEAKER_03

I think that's what that last shot was where where he texts he texts Mike's like Mike's number. All good. And like that's he's he's he's in the shot. Because like I I I would argue, and sorry, I know you're you you're trying to make a point, but uh I I would argue that like that was supposed to be his his point and his journey throughout all this. Because like, yeah, Mike wanted to keep him separate from from this life, the like the restaurant life goes off of how stressful and whatnot it can be, and how it's it like was breaking him down and tearing him down. But I mean there are other things tearing Mike down as as well. But I think that Carmi being able to balance that and come out the other side of that, I think is part of his story because like, yeah, we see that whole thing, and like the ideal is he doesn't end up where his brother ended up, you know, and so that's the way I like to think of it. And so yeah, him quitting the restaurant and going to be a fucking intern at an architectural company, I just like no way, bro. No shit.

SPEAKER_07

Well, I it's and I actually love that about that scene too, because the way that it's structured to me is you don't know what he's doing here, right? He's dressed up, uh maybe you can make some interpretations, but overall, you don't really know what Carmi is there for until she asks him, uh, you know, tell me about what you used to do, whatever. And he just goes on a tear, and it it's just another one of his gorgeous monologues, and she's like, Well, I mean, I I just asked, you know, uh, in the sense of being an intern at an architectural firm, like I didn't mean all of that, and in that moment, it's like he loves this shit, man. Like, he literally loves this.

SPEAKER_03

He says, as chaotic as it was, like I I had never had as much fun as I had that day, or something like that.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, yeah. And and I think the overall goal of this season after after last season, his apology tour and understanding what he needed to work on and how he could be better. This season being the season where he literally tells her at the end of the finale, you're the bear, you're the bear, like this this is all you. This is always supposed to be you, and then he sees them all lift him back up. You know, I drop Starman's plate, and they're like, Carmen, we got you. Like, we have you, you're gonna be okay. And I think that's what all of this was it was supposed to show, like, hey, he can fall in love with this again, and this is the way that he falls in love with this again, is is nights like this, services like this, where they're just fucking in their bag and and they're all just chefing up, and they get to just relax afterwards and know that they changed multiple people's lives, like they are all meant for this, and I think that's what this entire show has shown since after season two is that they are all meant to do this, and that's what he tells them. He's like, Y'all love this shit, like I can see it, y'all love this, and it's like, yeah, motherfucker, you do too. Like, you do too. You just you're not seeing the vision. So, um, this being the and I I I didn't know how I felt about it at first. I know I'm all over the place because I want Ben's thoughts too. I I didn't like I didn't know how I felt about the first five episodes being the span of one day, right? I didn't know, I didn't really know, and even rewatching because I've I've gotten through four uh four episodes on a rewatch, so I'm in the middle of re-watching it. Um I didn't know how I felt about it at first. After seeing how everything played out, um, this is the journey. This is the what you need for the finale. It is what you need for that final service. This final service needs to span over a day so that you can let those moments breathe and you can show why, like his journey into finally accepting that and finally understanding what loving this really looks like. He thought he loved it before, he only thought that he loved it before. He didn't understand what it really could be because he's worked at all these highbrow restaurants where you know they did three turns every night and it was just like work, work, work, work, work done. Uh, he doesn't know what it's like to do that with a family that's not just screaming and cussing each other out and is actually working and beating as one. And so spanning that over a day to let those moments breathe and actually show you know his journey into fully loving that again, I think is fucking perfect. So I have no complaints with with it spanning over a day after thinking about it and re-watching it. Uh, and even in the moment, I didn't hate it. After I after episode two, I was like, okay, I kind of see what we're what we're doing here. Um, there's so many good moments that you could pick out because I think they structured it the way they did.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's very like and I know you guys haven't don't have a reference to this, and Aiden's probably gonna hate that I'm gonna bring this up, but it's very like the pit. Like, that's what the pit does. The entire season of the show is is one day, one shift. And I didn't like that about the pit at first. Uh, but yeah, it grew on me. And so, like, seeing them try to tackle that in this show, a show that I love, like, perfect. I thought it was great.

SPEAKER_04

That is actually one of my bigger complaints. Uh really, yeah, and not that I think it hindered this season too much, but it it does feel like it undermines a little bit of the ending of the last season. I and I I think it's weird because like obviously we still spend like a lot of time with Carmi and we get to see how everything unfolds with him kind of going back and forth and deciding if he wants to leave or not. But there was something about the fact that like we had the ending of season four, and you know, we didn't know how this was all gonna happen and how they were gonna wrap it up, and all of the development um for this whole season takes place within you know, like basically a day other than the epilogue uh and kind of the aftermath of everything. And it it's it's weird, and I don't know if it's me like taking a step back and being too like meta about viewing it from like a show perspective, because even though we still got the same like amount of time and episodes to be with our characters, it feels more rushed because it in the actual story, it's in such a short period of time, and so that you know the character moments feel uh less fleshed out because we haven't had as much time for you know different conversations and story arcs and even disagreements and people finding out that he's leaving and arguments, like those things that feel like with time they could be explored a little deeper and could be fleshed out a little bit more, and instead all of it happens within such a short period of time. So it's not like a it's not a huge hindrance because I think what we still got from the show was really well done and enjoyable, and I still really loved it. Um, and it's you know, I think it's a this is a lot happier of a season compared to previous seasons. It's a lot less stressful than the previous seasons. Um, so that's you know, that's that's obviously I think a good way to send things off and wrap things up, but it it did hinder just like a little bit because I feel like some of those things that are supposed to be hitting really hard just didn't hit quite as hard. Because to me, it's like I think canonically, and I'm like, yeah, like Carmi's still going back and forth and people are finding out, but like he literally just decided like this literally just happened, and and now we're like that that's partially why uh even at like the very very end um when he was deciding when as the audience were deciding based on interpretation if he was going to be leaving or not, uh, and going to be an intern or not, it's like at that point I didn't believe that in the slightest. And his decision at the end of season four seems like I don't know, it took one shift going really well for him to be brought back in. Like that's it, just uh it all it all happens very quick to me. And also his decision to like leave, like he was still there and involved in this season. Pretty much to the I mean, he wasn't like leading the shift, obviously. Uh obviously that was you know that was Sid, but still like being very, very involved in what was happening. So uh it's hard to like pinpoint exactly, but there's some like combination there of how they decided to tell the story and the timeline and the motive and the arc that Carmi goes on that I just don't quite like fully buy into as much as I would like to, simply based on like the structure of the show. So uh I I still loved it. I mean, I thought it I thought it was great, but I I was a little like my hesitancy with that did like hold it back just a little bit uh compared to a couple of the other seasons. So this wouldn't be like this wouldn't be like my favorite season, and I'm sure we'll get into that a little bit later, but it was still still very good.

SPEAKER_07

I I would I would agree in in terms of uh I'd agree in terms of like him quitting and and okay, will we sacrifice you know the final service for not getting a lot of those moments? But another part of me is like, how different would those moments really be compared to what we've already seen in seasons three and four? Like, have we already gotten a lot of that um in this show? Have we already gotten a lot of those moments with each other where I feel like we've built so much upon that that we know how Marcus would respond, we know how um Tina would respond. I mean, we kind of see her just be like, I don't have time for fucking goodbyes right now. Like, we we got some shit to do, and I think we also see that with the character work. Um, you know, even if we never saw Cousin's reaction, I think we see it in him when when he's sitting there talking to Unk and he's like, I'm gonna give this all I got. Like, I understand you have to do what you do. Let us do what we do, and let's at least go give this all we got. And he tells Marcus, yeah, before we earn our first star, like your dad's gonna come before we earn our first star. Not because we're shutting down, but but because we're we're gonna earn our first star, and he needs to see it before that. Like, I think those moments tell you enough about how those conversations would go so that whenever you see it actually happen and sit is like, oh yeah, let's keep grooving, but I quit. Like, that is like a pull, like it hits that much harder because you you already know what that feels like. You already know what the what the sentiment is because all of the character work that we've built up in the past four seasons. So I'm not saying that you're wrong to feel that way because I get where you're coming from. For me, I think I was able to buy in a little bit easier and understand like this season is not about Carn Me per se, it's not about the the crew per se. It's about this final service and it's about the bear, like the restaurant the bear. Yeah, and um oh you tearing up, man. Sorry, dude. He said, Yeah, yeah. Um, it's it's uh it's about this final service, and it's about what this final service means for everybody involved. And I think for Carmi it means the most. And I think I'm also able to buy how fast this decision is because I feel like a part of him wanted to still love it, and I feel like a part of him could see himself loving it. He just never gave those reins over to Sid like he felt that he should have. And even throughout this episode, it's still hard for him to, or throughout this season, it's still hard for him to not micromanage or not pipe up when someone says, Chef, can I talk to you? Um, and I feel like that's that part of him that just can't let go. And he finally sees what this could actually be like and how amazing it is. He's over there tearing up whenever they finish their turns, and he's like, Shit, this is everything that I ever wanted it to be. And I know that that's now possible. So who am I to leave and take that away from everybody? And I think that's because that part of him is still holding on and has been holding on this season. So it's it was a lot easier for me to buy. Um, but I I do see where you're coming from in in regards to how fast everything seems to move because of the structure.

SPEAKER_03

I just think you're a hater, bro.

SPEAKER_04

Dude, don't do that. Aiden's had a tough day. Yeah, dude. You're fucking you, buddy boy. All right. I I still really loved everything that happened and seeing everything come together. I mean, obviously not without like its hiccups and its faults and whatever, but seeing everything come together and seeing them work in such synchronized motion. I mean, I I was absolutely vibing. Yeah, I was absolutely vibing when all of like the servers up front had like the hand signals for the quick turnarounds of tables and the eye contact, the way all of that was, yeah, the way, yeah, yeah, yeah. The way all of that was like shot and filmed, like it was just like it was really well paced, well done. You felt like you were there, you were a part of the team, you were seeing everything happen. Um, and all of the moments. I mean, I I I think I mean everything with cousin is probably uh highlight for me uh when he was calling to like try to try to cancel some of the reservations, and you get to hear his interaction on the phone and hear people's story and how excited they are, and then not canceling any of them. And his, I mean, I think it was ever since the Forks episode, but just like this is what happened during this one night, this one shift is what he has been dreaming of since he's been like inspired to really like lock in and put everything that he has into making this like the perfect night and the perfect experience for everyone who's there. And so, like seeing that really play out where all of his ideas and all of his surprises for people and uh setting up an extra table and whatever it may be, all of that actually working in a way that like everyone vibes to, and you know, obviously it was it was stressful at times and whatever, but like it all worked out and it created an amazing experience for everyone who came to the bear. Like that just seeing that finally really pay off, I thought was was just awesome to see, and like it it was a it was a happier season than I expected. I don't like not that I was expecting a lot of like awful, awful things to happen, but I remember the trailers and like seeing some of the stuff with like the flooding, and I was just like, oh dude, they're gonna they're gonna stress me out again. And like it's gonna be horrible. In the front half, there was some of that, and there was also this kind of looming threat that at any point uh you know their uncle was just gonna come in and shut the whole place down. It's like at any point that could happen, and I kind of thought that it was going to happen. I think I made my prediction when we talked about the trailer. I was just like, they're gonna have one successful shift, but he's still gonna come in and shut everything down, and that's that was my like prediction, and it's you know, um but I I thought the back half, the back half of the season really was pretty low stress. I mean, they even some of the minor things that happened were like the water spilled over and like the burner shut off for a little bit. They like instant solution was like wasn't even really a problem. Bro, Chev freaking sin, man. So it's like there were still problems, but like they showed how you know, no, this team they they can lock in, they can overcome the problems, and it's fine. So from that perspective, yeah. Of course. I mean, it's uh it's it's it's just yeah, it's just great, it's just great.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, I'd call you, I'd call you a pussy, but you don't deserve it.

SPEAKER_03

Uh I love I love the moment. It's a little cliche, but uh I because I saw it coming, but I I just love the moment. Like, did we get a star? And Karen shakes his head and he's like, You got two.

SPEAKER_07

No, he said, he said, no, no, we didn't. Dude, I started I started crying, bro. I just started. I just I just started crying. I was like, I think episode seven, yeah. I've been Ben was crying earlier. Um, I think episode seven after I got after I got finished with episode seven. Oh, episode seven is so fucking. I texted, I texted Brandon. I was like, episode seven's a fucking all-timer, dude. This is this needs to be up there with some of the best. Like, I think I cried like three times, dude. Oh my god, when she walks through and she brings out the Coca-Cola short ribs, uh, because everyone's busy, and she sets it down and she hears everyone talking. Everyone's like, This is like the greatest meal I've ever had. Fucking tears, bro. Like, just straight tears. God, it's so good. Um, yeah, that's this season's so fucking good, man.

SPEAKER_03

Gosh, man. Just think, man. You guys, you guys didn't listen to me, man. Dude, you guys didn't listen.

SPEAKER_06

He's muted. This shit you guys didn't even listen to me, bro.

SPEAKER_03

I put it on in front of you guys, and you guys are just like, no, I don't want to listen to this guy. Man, you guys go home and you separately put it on. You guys go home and put it on on your own, and you're like, no, it's out of my seat.

SPEAKER_07

You didn't put me on, yeah. So technically, that's what I'm saying.

SPEAKER_03

I tried to put you on to this fucking amazing thing, and you guys wouldn't fucking listen to me, man. Bro said you watch the show.

SPEAKER_04

I went, all right, yeah, I got you. Yeah, let me watch the show. I'm gonna head to my room. I'll see you soon, Charlie.

SPEAKER_03

I'll see you back at the I started hearing the saxophones, bro, as soon as Ben's like, all right, I'm going to bed, bro. I'm going in, I'm going in my room. All right, bitch. Fuck we talking about. I should have unplugged that TV as soon as you tried to show Aiden fucking whatever the fucking stupid, I forget what it's called.

SPEAKER_04

Upgrade.

SPEAKER_03

Upgrading.

SPEAKER_04

You also loved that movie. Yeah, I like that movie. It's a good movie. It's a good movie. Um, no, Charlie, you're trying to take credit for the show existing, basically.

SPEAKER_03

No, I'm not. I'm just saying, I'm just saying. Uh you guys should have listened to me, bro. Y'all should have listened to me, and you guys could have been watching this shit way longer, bro. Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_02

Well, actually, it's a good perfect for me.

SPEAKER_04

You're not used to watching it longer, Charlie. We get it. Holy shit, man.

SPEAKER_03

Gosh. Oh, you guys pissed me off.

SPEAKER_02

You guys piss me off, bro.

SPEAKER_07

Was this better than season four? Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I think it is. I don't think so. I think it is. Because of the Carmi thing that I mentioned.

SPEAKER_07

So but I think I think I'd put it over four, and then I think I'd put both of these over one and two. So one is your is last place for you? Or no, three is last place. Yeah, one is second, last, but one is an eight out of ten. Like, I think one's an eight out of ten, four is an eight and a half out of ten, and then five and two are nines. Like, I I think that these are all still great. And I I honestly don't even hate season three. Like, I think season three is is is good. Like, I didn't hate it as much as other people made it out to seem or made it out too.

SPEAKER_03

I wouldn't say I hate it as much as other people, but I I I definitely I don't I don't like that season though. Um I think I think for me, starting from the bottom up, it's three, one, four or sorry, three, one, five, two, four. No, four, two. Four-two.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_03

Just four is a great season, man.

SPEAKER_04

I would probably three, one, four, five, two. So just swap four and five. Three, one, four, five, two.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_07

That's what that's mine, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

That's crazy. Ben, how do you you're you're shitting on the entire like formula of this season, the way it's laid out, but you like this one more than four?

SPEAKER_05

I mean lay off my boy.

SPEAKER_04

I would probably like I'm I'm not like Aiden where like I watch it in a day and then re-watch it over the next like multiple days. I probably should do that because for both last season and this season, I think I watched both of them like within two days. So like I I probably need more time to sit with each of them, and maybe some of it's just like the emotions of this being the final season and uh a culmination of everything finally going well, like that is so strong that like Carmi's arc being not quite as good compared to last season, I think, is overshadowed by some of those other things. But I'd maybe need some time to sit with it. It's just how I'm feeling right now. It's just recency bias you guys are feeling.

SPEAKER_03

It's fine.

SPEAKER_07

You guys will get over it one day. Well, I didn't like season four when I first watched it. I didn't like I wasn't the biggest fan of it, and then on a rewatch, I was like, this is really good. I I was tripping for sure. Um just all clicked immediately.

SPEAKER_04

I wasn't the biggest fan of Charlie when I first like talked to him and interacted with him, and now it takes a little bit lower on the list.

SPEAKER_07

Oh fuck, yeah. Right.

SPEAKER_03

So I'm so I'm so I'm very convincing, is what you guys are saying. Thank you.

SPEAKER_07

No, no, we've liked you less as we've gotten to know you, so you're opposite of convincing.

SPEAKER_03

Uh, this is my show I'm hosting, so shut the fuck up.

SPEAKER_01

All right. Matter of fact, Ben, you know what time it is? The fuck out, bitch.

SPEAKER_03

No, just kidding, man. Just kidding. I mean, you not kind of have kidding because apparently you are leaving when we're uh yeah.

SPEAKER_04

For those who don't know, I am I did not watch X-Men 97. He's had two years ago. I've been busy, it's been a busy couple of years. Yep, sure, man. Yeah, but I am in the process of catching up, and by the next time that we talk, I will be fully caught up and be able to be in all of the conversations. So I will be leaving these gentlemen to talk about X-Men 97 season two.

SPEAKER_03

Keep in mind, he still hasn't even seen season one of X-Men 97 yet, bro. Like, it's not even the fact that he finally finished season one and he just has to be.

SPEAKER_04

I have seen that portion of it, but I'm also talking about I think it was episode I think it was episode two when I forget the bad guy's name, but he's kind of vampire-esque, and they were all kind of hallucinating. Yeah, Mr. Sinister. They were hallucinating in the X-Mansion, and like that sequence got pretty trippy as well. So um, it just like really leans into the fact that, like, oh yeah, this is an animated TV show, and you can do a bunch of crazy stuff like that that would be really hard to pull off in any sort of live action setting.

SPEAKER_03

So I also just want to say that I just re-watched the entirety of season one last week, so I've seen it twice now before, Benjamin.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I Aiden, hey Aiden, you got any medals over there?

SPEAKER_03

Listen, dude, two years pipe down, buddy, pipe down, two years. Hey, and all I want to say that's can I have that? That's uh you can have this to be honest. When you come here, this yeah has your name on it. I'll take that, yeah. Um, but also I wanted to say in my rewatch, surprisingly enough, and I've never been like a big one way or the other about this kind of thing. This show works much better as a week to week. Like watching and stuff that I can't say because for Benjamin's sake, like this stuff just works season one. Like, there's little things that I just think like make it all happen like too quickly when you're just binge watching it, I think, versus like when you're waiting week to week, you kind of have like that illusion of time that kind of helps you. I think kind of akin to what Ben was mentioning in terms of like character arcs for for the bear and whatnot.

SPEAKER_04

That might have helped this season of the bear if I didn't watch it all within two days.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, it might have. Even though it's still even though it's still like your favorite season. I didn't have it at the top. What was it? Two, okay.

SPEAKER_04

It's your second favorite season. So even though it's your second oh, yeah, it was still really good. But I'm just you know, if if it was two episodes a week for a month, like that would it would have topped season two for you. No, I'm just saying it might have changed things, even though it's the same show.

SPEAKER_01

All right, so I just doesn't you're just pointing out stupid shit that I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

And also, that's you know, that's why it's taking me a bit longer to catch up on X-Men. I'm not trying to bro.

SPEAKER_03

You're about to make me make Aiden's Day worse. You keep talking, bro. You're about to make me make Aiden's Day worse.

SPEAKER_04

Hey, hop off my boy, hop off my boy. All right, enjoy the X-Men 97. Uh see you guys in.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I've enjoyed it two times over now.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. Yeah. Charlie, enjoy your trip. Have a fun time. Hope you have a safe flight.

SPEAKER_02

I hope you feel you hear how you just said that? You hear how you just said that, Chad?

SPEAKER_04

I I hope when you're uh I hope when you're there that you feel safe all the time, sleeping at night and walking around.

SPEAKER_03

Don't worry, when I'm in the plane flying over your guys' little flyover fucking states, I'm gonna fucking take a picture right out the window. Oh, two little bitches live down there. That's what I'm gonna do. Aiden, I'm sorry that Charlie treats you this way.

SPEAKER_07

Uh it's it's curly, bro.

SPEAKER_04

That's how curly it is, you know. Yeah, if you if you uh if you need help, just let me know. I'll I'll get his ass with you.

SPEAKER_03

You get this ass? What the f yeah.

SPEAKER_04

All right, uh, you guys have fun. I know you want some alone time. That's crazy.

SPEAKER_07

Bye, Mr. Benjamin. Yeah, get him out of here.

SPEAKER_06

Out. Holy, holy cordy.

SPEAKER_03

Holy snap Rooney. Um, but yes, X-Men 97 season two is finally upon us. The first three episodes. I guess we'll give a first reaction to this, too. Uh, because why the hell not in three? Two one.

SPEAKER_07

Peak, really?

SPEAKER_01

Peak for you.

SPEAKER_07

I I I'm dude, I'm right back on it, man. This like this shit is right back, like uh reigniting the flame inside of me. Sure. Um, fuck man. Yeah, I'm I'm all I'm all in for it. I'm I'm loving it again. Yeah, I think all three episodes were great.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I I think episode two was phenomenal. I think uh episode one was my second favorite, and three is my least favorite. Um I I don't know, man. I think like of course I like the hype moments in aura of in episode one were great, and like there was a lot of a lot of great future stuff with with the X-Men and just seeing what like seeing Storm conjure us fucking solar. Oh my god. Fucking solar storm, bro. Like, come on, man. Like, that's great shit. That's great shit. Don't get me wrong. Uh, but then like you get to episode two. I don't know what it is, man. The X-Force shit that really got to me. That I was like, dude, the whole intro being X-Forced. Yeah, yeah, bro. Dude, you have to watch every intro with this fucking show. Like, that's not it's like not even not even on some like peacemaker kind of like, oh, it's just part of the experience, but like, I mean, I guess you could this is part of the experience as well, but it's just the it it adds a whole nother layer to it, it feels like. But that episode, man, like following an entirely different crew with the exception of Jubilee and Sunspot, I I don't know, man. I was just all in for it. And even like the little moments of Jubilee begging them not to kill that one guy, and and and she's like, There, we what if we can get more information out of him and just blam he's dead, and they all start walking away, and she's just left there.

SPEAKER_06

Well, and what did she say?

SPEAKER_07

She's like, We need to call, like, maybe we should call the authorities, and he's like, We are the authority, we are the authorities, like, holy shit, and it like they're not scared to do that shit, bro. They're not scared to have Captain Fucking America in their final three episodes of season one. Like, fuck this show is awesome, bro.

SPEAKER_03

Worf turning into Thor too, speaking of hype motion.

SPEAKER_07

Oh my god, dude, popped. I literally sat there, I was like, I was cycling, bro, in the in the gym watching it, and I my mouth, like literally, my mouth just dropped. It was so fucking cool. But like, yes, all the Jubilee stuff, and I said this in a voice message to Brandon. One thing that I love so much about this show, and and one thing that I'm so excited. I hope they take their precious time with the X-Men in the MCU. Because one thing I love is like you can get a sequence that will just make you feel like, oh yeah, why would that not be my favorite X-Men character? Why would Jubilee not be my favorite X-Men character of all time? Because like she just did some insane stuff here, and she just had some awesome motives and some great character work, like convincing Polaris to to you know lean into why she did this in the first place, like trying to convince the the X-Force team to to listen to her and and um you know lean into their good side and not just kill a mutant just because you know Apocalypse has gotten a hold of them. And I'm like, yeah, why would I not fucking love Jubilee? Why would she not be my favorite of all time? And then you get moments like that with Scott too, and like moments like that with cable. It's a testament to this show and it's riding, just that they can make any character feel bigger than life itself, and god, that shit hits, dude. And you need that, you freaking need that when you're dealing with um with groups like this. This is my issue with Captain America. I feel like we don't get a lot of that with Captain America. There's never a moment with Cap where I feel like he could he could be my favorite Avenger ever. And and like it's just there's there's not a lot of moments like that that aren't from someone external, like Bucky, whatever. Anyways, I don't want not to get into that, but like with X-Men, like oh my god, with this show, they can just do that, and it feels so easy for them to do that. And I I love episode two for that reason, like it's it's so good. And even the the Charles and Magneto moments, too.

SPEAKER_03

Like, those are the highlights of episode three for me. Uh, I just think episode three kind of like it muddies the waters a bit just uh with with uh apocalypse and their handling of apocalypse, but just seems a little uh disjointed at the moment and like they're just struggling to get along, and I'm kind of like, alright, let's like beat for beat. I know where this leads, like I know they're gonna get pissed off about something, and I know he's just gonna end up gonna end up killing the guy that uh Magneto's telling him not to kill. Magneto thinks he has a grasp on the situation, he really doesn't. Uh it seemed formulaic. I am interested in everything that they have going on with like the guy that they're fighting, uh uh uh Rama Tut, the who his technology, everything that stuff interests me 100%. And I think it was a great clip hanger that they ended up.

SPEAKER_07

Because that's Kang. Like that's Kang.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_07

I think that's so like as soon as they said Rama Tut, I was like, I popped, dude. I was like, this fucking show is amazing. Yeah, right.

SPEAKER_03

But yeah, sorry. But no, no, no, no. Like they just they go everywhere with this, and that's why I and I I I think it's be uh because of the animation aspect of it and and and just like the non-canonicity of it in terms of the MCU and it placing it in the like dude, my rewatch of season one and getting to see 90s Spider-Man in there and then 90s Peter standing next to 90s MJ, both of them look I for completely forgot about that shop when they're looking at that shop in the store. I was like, dude, that's fucking amazing. Like, that is so fucking good. Uh, but to have that carried over into this season, and uh, I can only imagine the places they'll go now after having already, which is crazy to say after having already seen. Ramatide What's uh what's her name?

SPEAKER_02

From the future.

SPEAKER_03

Oh um uh Rachel Rachel Summers Is that wait is that her the the the the old lady like the who was watching yeah that's Rachel Summers they said that did I was I was was no no did she just okay I saw the look on your face you're like I I don't care I don't care yeah that that's totally fine um but yeah that's okay no it's so exactly stuff like that so like I I'm excited to see where the rest of this goes and I like I said I think week to week to week is is great for this show even though it's an animated show and a lot of people would say that like that doesn't it's not warranted for that but then I point to something like an an invincible and and that kind of thing how many how many episodes is this gonna be is this is this eight like invincible last season was nine or ten um but they did the three episode drop thing so that's what makes me curious but yeah uh man i i'm trying to pull up the schedule right now um i'm gonna have to scroll through and and uh let me see uh one two three four five six seven eight nine yeah oh dude episode eight could cook okay so let me transition us into this um okay so uh scrolling through those just reminding me of this so episode eight is titled dead man's hand ooh dead man yeah and a hand of cards a lot of people which I didn't I didn't understand this sentiment um last season but a lot of people think that gambit will be resurrected to be one of his four horsemen be death I only knew that because I was watching it with my dad and my and my dad he's a he's a big yeah there you go I had to see that in like videos and whatnot but I didn't understand that that was a sentiment um I think that could cook man oh that could open the doors so many freaking storylines gosh but I have goose wounds I don't I I wonder if like because last season the way it was structured it was very not all over the place it they like they knew what they were doing and they knew where they were going with things but the main villain wasn't really a factor until well over like halfway through the season so I wonder if Apocalypse is going to be an entire season arcing arching villain or if they're uh they have other plans in mind.

SPEAKER_07

I'm sure they they'll they'll set something else up at the end of this uh end of the season but yeah I um I uh I I do think that apocalypse will be an overarching villain of the of the story um and I honestly I wonder what that means for how this will be because obviously I didn't watch any of the old um iterations of this show yeah um so I don't know what that looks like um what that will look like for um for this show uh having a villain that's here at the beginning of the the beginning of the season and spans the entire time so I'll be interested in seeing if that's makes it better or worse in season one.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah I think Apocalypse is a villain they can do that with very easily and it would make sense for them to switch up the way that they structure uh this show rather than trying to stick to do one half of the season one way and then start switching up in the other in the back half I think episode five being that turning point uh with with the first season and who knows I mean maybe because you said Dead Man's hand is episode five for this season episode eight episode eight okay oh okay so nine episodes so yeah I mean I don't know we'll see I I think just for me I I need more of that like great character what's the word not not assessment but just like care just the character work I guess I I think it's lacking in that department a little bit I as of as of this as of this point in the show with the exception of Jubilee and how she uh got to really shine in episode two and then also episode one with Scott and Cable and and and Gene I think episode three was a little bit lacking other than slight conversation, some philosophical discussions between Charles and Magneto and just the proper way to go about things. That one seemed more just campy for lack of a better term to I don't know explore the past and and and be jumping around in a different time period and see what that's like, see what the people were like back then and see what uh Rama Tutt has the kind of power that he has back then and that kind of thing. So I I'm not worried about the rest of the season going forward by any means but I just think that at this point it was almost a double thumbs up for me but I could I couldn't I couldn't I can't get to to peak or anything like that.

SPEAKER_07

Yeah yeah no fair I mean this is fully just brought back that feeling of watching season one and just how good season one was how they were cooking with every storyline um and even though three is a little bit slower I I I still loved like I just love the idea of all right I'm gonna send y'all to when apocalypse first started his reign and I'm gonna send it to the the height of his reign like we're gonna try everything we can to like nip this in the buds somehow some way um so I think focusing on him when he first started and seeing even even at that point Magneto and Professor X still find something to disagree on and um Magneto still tries to find a way to um do things hit the way he thinks is right. So I don't know I I I am still enjoying it a lot and just seeing where we can go has me a lot more excited than um sure what these first three episodes were supposed to pull out of me and even that was still like I'm all in you know and I definitely agree with that too.

SPEAKER_03

Another thing that I forgot to mention is the I mean looking at the team in the past versus the team in the future it almost I kind of just get the like what was the point of having them be in the future like I do get what the point was but their their stunt was over like that. I mean not for them they were there for months but for us watching it they were there one episode and then in the very next episode they end up coming home at the very end of it. So that kind of seemed a little I don't want to say like a cop out but just you know it was a little rushed in a in in in some way that I think so far as much as I didn't like episode three as much as the others episode three seems to be at least keeping those characters there Charles Magneto Beast Rogue Nightcrawler Bishop keeping them there for a longer period of time that would actually make the cliffhanger ending of season one feel a bit more weighty and and and and substantial so yeah I don't know also she said that she said that she was saving the X-Men from dying and I I was like I didn't it didn't was was Asteroid X about to explode or something uh because I didn't think any of them were gonna die.

SPEAKER_07

When Magneto started lifting that shit I was like they're good they're good now from what I've seen at least that was a sentiment now I've it's been a while since since I've watched the I I really wanted to do a full rewatch and the show the show just snuck up on me. But yes I think it was supposed to be played be I think it was supposed to be played more as a tense like they're gonna die in this moment type of moment.

SPEAKER_03

You just recently rewatched it though so I think you'd have a a better grasp on what it felt like I guess like the core was melting down but I thought the core was just what was keeping it afloat in space and it started falling down to earth and then so I thought they stopped it from falling down to earth and they were bringing it back up to space and then that's when they got teleported but maybe the whole thing was going to explode and I just I just don't know what I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_07

I don't know it's it's not that consequential but yeah I'm very excited I I I wonder what this what the reasoning for having them stay there through three episodes stay there in the past I wonder what that looks like um and this might be dumb but like where's apocalypse right now we just saw him come back to Genosha yeah we saw him on Genosha we saw him at the come back to Genosha at the end of season one yeah yeah yes yes yes um gosh I wish I would have rewatched season one before this came out but anyways uh yeah I do wonder what having them being stuck in the past is supposed to set up or show for the rest of the season um I imagine that'd be interesting what off the cuff right now what I imagine is that it it's going to inspire apocalypse to to sort of become apocalypse knowing that you don't you don't think he'll try to jump with them or because I that's possible his big thing yeah I just yeah I mean yeah I I guess it really could just be like they went to the future in the past to try to change something about apocalypse and really just ended up creating him anyway so they got to go back to the present.

SPEAKER_03

Because right now he's mad at them you know like he he feels betrayed by them so like if that goes any further and he can find out that they're from the future and whatnot he could so he could follow them and and do that kind of thing or just find ways to survive via Ramatut's technology or something and and and be a nuisance to them that way. Yeah dude what a great design for him too when him and Magneto every time him and Magneto are standing next to each other on screen it's just like oh my god uh uh yeah and Sabinur and Sabinur oh my god dude yeah this shows fucking awesome his little buddy bro I was like yo wrap this boy up man get him the fuck out I forget his name bro he's so very annoying get that we get that very annoying kill him kill him kill him all like bro shut your ass up man get just you're throwing a rama tet at this point bro I don't even care get that boy out of here cornball yeah uh I'm also like why didn't we send forge back to the past because I mean I guess the wristbands are ideally what's supposed to get them back to the future I think I think he said that he didn't know where they where uh they could find them they're sure sure for the thing and he wanted to go after storm find them yeah yeah but I just oh you're saying why not have instead of bishop sent to bishop yeah yeah bishop to the future forge to the past just because forge I'm imagining like forge and beast if they put their brains together bro they're making a time machine easy they're making a time machine easy a hundred percent well who's there to help them in the future uh forge forge forge goes to them in the future but the the way they get back is with cable cable cable sends them back with his computer oh sends them back to the net why not have forge yeah yeah so have forge go to the past cable does help them yeah have forge go to the past and help them build one because they don't have a cable or anything back then but unless these wristbands can send them back to the with the wristbands Bishop has I'm sure bishop because Bishop travels through time all the time.

SPEAKER_07

So I'm sure Bishop has a plan but also is that so is that why what took him so long to find because he didn't know where they were yeah I um forge just happened upon Wolverine well technically Wolverine happened upon him because forge was getting surrounded by apocalypse nuts or something I I do know that was something forge had said he's like I there's literally no way to find out where they are um right now in time so that was like one of his reasonings for not going back but Bishops I'm not I don't I'm not sure what Bishop's excuse would be yeah that for for I mean maybe it just took him that long to find or maybe he was just staying undercover so that he could get close to them and then do everything that they did and as soon as they were about to get out of there that's when Ramatut just nuked their entire hideout. Yeah so if we get out of there in like the first couple minutes next episode I'm gonna be like all right could we not have gotten out of there like at the end like I just I just want to know like where we go from here.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah uh which is just me being selfish really so yeah yeah I I mean Magneto made a I like I I don't think it's gonna be that hard like Magneto in Genosha in season one made a four little force field bubble around him and and and Leech and some other mutants. Granted those mutants ended up dying but so if Magneto can do that there I'm I imagine he can do that here too. So like that cliffhanger just didn't really do much for me I guess is what I'm trying to say. Because like I yeah like you're saying I just imagine they're gonna be out of there in two seconds flat uh next episode but maybe I'm wrong. Yeah well that that's what I'm saying we'll see I mean if they spend if they spend another um if they spend another episode there another two episodes stuck in stuck in the past that's when things I think will get interesting so I don't know we'll see yeah X-Men 97 season two we're gonna keep following along and then after this show I think the next Marvel show is either vision or your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man season two one of those I don't know which is first yeah but I'm excited for both I are you is it just Ben who's not excited for vision or are you not excited for vision either I'm excited yeah I'm excited for it golly bro Ben calls himself a fan insane insane work but get that boy out of here that I think is gonna do it for uh for our episode today ladies and gentlemen a little bit of a shorter one for you which is crazy because we're still talking about over an hour and a half but for us that is that is a shorter one um again thank you guys so much for uh for for watching and and listening wherever you are whatever time of day it is for you uh as I mentioned before if you comment down below next episode one of us will be reading aloud whatever you say we will literally read whatever you say uh aloud if you want to hear one of us say it so uh yeah please do that and then if you're on YouTube hit the like button hit the subscribe button hit the notification bell because we are coming at you every single week and we're gonna have a Comic-Con live stream coming up we don't know like uh we don't imagine we've done one before but we don't imagine we're gonna be able to show you very much because there's not going to show very much to the public I imagine we're going to get the first like official doomsday trailer like actual trailer not just like little snippet trailers I imagine they'll release that to the public but who knows we could be wrong about that too because D23 is just shortly after that so they might save it for that uh I don't know uh we we might do a live stream for D23 though too uh maybe I don't want to throw uh throw too much on our plate but maybe we'll see uh but yeah Comic-Con live streams are usually always fun we're just kind of watching whatever random website we can andor people on Twitter whoever's updating whatever and uh we'll read along I'm sure there's people who are gonna get to watch Spider-Man because it comes out the week right after that but yes subscribe for that because because we will get to talk to you guys live and that'll be cool that'll be fun if you're on Spotify or any other podcast listening platform give us a good rating.
